Area: Whitby Waterfront

Hours of Operation:  9am to 9pm (June to September, weather permitting)

Age Range: toddler and up

Parking: plenty in the parking lot off of Water St

Ground Cover: interlock

Main Equipment:
  • 1 spray post
  • 1 hydrant post
  • multiple in ground water features

Accessibility Features: wheelchair accessible but caution that some interlock has shifted causing dips and edges

Facilities/Surrounding Park Area/Other:
  • see Kiwanis Heydenshore Park post
  • FIT gym
  • washrooms (seasonal from 9am to 9pm)

Seating: 6 park benches surrounding the splash pad, multiple park benches and picnic tables are scattered throughout the surrounding park

Shade: morning shade on the splash pad and some shade provided by the surrounding park trees in the afternoon, and picnic tables within the trees offer all day shade as well as those within a picnic table weather shelter (which also have small outdoor BBQs; bring your own fuel)

Overall assessment: A nice little splash pad by the Kiwanis Heydenshore playground with just enough to cool off with for multiple kids on hot summer days.

The use of barbeques is only permitted with the rental of the picnic shelters at Kiwanis Heydenshore Park. You can find details on rentals on the Town website here; https://www.whitby.ca/en/residents/picnicareas.asp

The new splash pad is still under construction but the plan is to still open it for the season this year.

Last we checked the parking lot is free to park. Operating hours vary by season but I can't recall ever seeing it closed off.
