My name is Jen, I am 44 (as of 2025), originally from Calgary, and I have lived in Durham Region since 2011. I have three lively children that I share 50/50 custody of with my ex husband amicably. They love exploring the outdoors as much as I do and need to stay active.

I love how many parks and playgrounds there are all over Durham Region! It's a great way to get outside and burn off our active energy. The problem I originally had with my firstborn is I never knew which local parks had an infant swing for our youngest, or which ones would be too difficult to climb and if the ones good for the littlest would be too boring for the oldest.

Each Durham Region municipality or township website does a fabulous job listing the names and locations of all of their parks and playgrounds, however, with limited information and seldom any photos I felt the need for a more thorough local resource. And so my adventure into this site began!

​In researching blogs ​I stumbled across a fabulous site http://calgaryplaygroundreview.com by Dana, a mommy in Calgary (originally my home town) who experienced the same issue a few years before me. I was immediately inspired! I’ve always wanted to start a blog but could never think of a unique topic that would actually be helpful to people before. Please feel free to submit suggestions for reviews!

While I have kept this site and my social media active from when it began in 2014, I have slowed down after having my third little guy in 2020. I promise to try to keep up with the occasional new posting between my full time career and my parenting duties. ​We hope you enjoy exploring the Durham Region as much as we do!
