Picture
Area: Central Whitby

Hours of Operation: June to September from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., weather permitting

Installed: 2019

Age Range: all ages

Parking: large parking lot off of Jeffery Street

Ground Cover: cement

Main Equipment:
  • 2 turnable spray features (yes kids can rotate them on their own!)
  • 2 tall spray trees
  • 1 tall spray post
  • multiple in ground spray jets
  • run off 'creek'

Accessibility Features: wheelchair accessible (except for the creek)

Facilities/Surrounding Park Area/Other:
  • Jeffery Park
  • seasonal portable washroom
  • basketball court
  • soccer pitch
  • field

Seating: 3 two person picnic tables under the shade sail beside the splash pad, 4 benches around the playground, very long concrete bench surrounding one corner of the playground space by the accessible swings

Shade: shade sail over the splash pad picnic tables

Overall assessment: We certainly love splash pads with interactive elements, and finding two manual spinning water spout elements here was a neat surprise! The tall spray trees have a very cool effect as the branches and leaves cause the water to spread widely and mist all around them. However, the highlight for us was the runoff creek just around the corner by the back of the splash pad. It is filled with the runoff from the splash pad and has a large river rock bed. With the seasonal washroom and ship themed playground you can spend all day at this splash pad and park!

Area: Pickering Central Seaton

Hours of Operation: 9am - 8pm (seasonal, hours are weather permitting)

Installed: 2019

Age Range: all ages

Parking: some street parking off of Foxtail Cres (intersecting with Dragonfly Ave)

Ground Cover: cement

Main Equipment:
  • multiple jet spray post
  • multiple in ground water jets
  • activation button

Accessibility Features: wheelchair accessible

Facilities/Surrounding Park Area/Other:
  • see Foxtail Green Park post  (coming soon)

Seating: 1 bench facing the splash pad, 2 park benches beside splash pad in shade pavilion, 1 park bench facing the play structure

Shade: shade structure over two park benches between playground and splash pad, some shade will be available from the surrounding trees once they mature

Overall assessment: The stream with the small bridge was definitely the highlight for us at this splash pad. You can stand on the bridge and get a bit wet with the mist and water on a good day, and a bit more soaked on a windy day! The in ground jets offered a really high display of water blasts, which were a bit too aggressive for our three year old (CAUTION: definitely watch eyes if anyone decides they want to step on the jets and then let go, the water pressure is a bit intense!). This is a great community splash pad that has a smaller play structure beside it (we didn't enjoy as it was still taped off). Our video really shows the best this splash pad has to offer.

Age Range: all ages

Parking: large parking lot off of Rosebank Rd, some street parking off of Braeburn Cres

Ground Cover: cement

Main Equipment:
  • 2 spinable spray posts
  • 1 rotating spray snail
  • 1  small spray post
  • waterfall and stream
  • multiple in ground water jets
  • 1 button activation post
Accessibility Features: wheelchair accessible

Facilities/Surrounding Park Area/Other:

  • seasonal washrooms (not beside the splash pad but a good walk away)

Seating: 2 park benches at the playground, plenty of boulders around the splash pad to sit on

Shade: no shade over the splash pad itself but some surrounding tree shade around the park and over both benches (late in the morning and early afternoon)

Overall assessment: This is a splash pad with a lot of interactive features that kids will love. The snail shell spins, the tall cattail can be spun, and the reed has spinning water features too! Not to mention the really neat waterfall and stream feature to splash about in at the bottom of the splash pad.

To the far right is the parking lot. Follow the path to the playground and splash pad behind the trees behind the ball diamond. It is a 5-10 min walk for toddlers.

Area: North Whitby

Hours of Operation:  from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and operate from June to September, weather permitting

Installed: 2010

Age Range: all ages

Parking: parking lot off of Darren Ave

Ground Cover:  cement

Main Equipment:
  • 3 dumping buckets
  • 1 fountain post
  • spray posts
  • "creek bed" drainage

Accessibility Features: wheel chair accessible
