Martin's Tot Lot

Picture
Area: North Pickering

Age Range:
 18 months and up

Parking: limited street parking off Martins Street

Ground Cover:  mulch

Main Equipment:
  • 6 slides (1 is a triple racing slide)
  • 1 swing
  • 1 JennSwing bucket swing
  • 1 talking, periscope, gears station (which most kids cannot reach from ground level)
  • 1 abacus counting station
  • multiple climbing apparatus

Accessibility Features:  abacus counting station only (because standing I could just use the other 'accessible' station)

Facilities/Other:
  • none

Surrounding Park Area: just the playground

Seating: 2 park bench structures facing the playground

Shade: no shade over the playground, but plenty of shade over the swings and late day shade over the park benches

Overall assessment: The accessible swing was amazing here! Plenty of buckles and up to 125lbs weight limit! It was just too bad there isn't really anything else accessible at this park apart from an abacus station. The triple racing slides were exciting though as the centre one was wide and 'HUGE' (according to my preschooler). A great little neighborhood playground for sliding, and the fact that the swings are the in the shade is a huge plus for me (since I end up pushing all the time).  We would definitely not classify this as a tot lot as the larger play structure is definitely aimed at older kids. So don't let the park name deceive you!
