Picture
Area:   Beaverton, Brock Township

Age Range: best for 5 to 12 years

Parking:  limited street parking on Simcoe Street

Ground Cover: sand

Main Equipment:
  • 1 swing
  • 2 infant swings
  • 2 slides
  • 1 teeter totter
  • 1 climbing elephant structure (old school!)
  • 1 climbing dinosaur
  • 1 rocker whale
  • 1 climbing rope wall
  • 1 play jeep structure
  • 1 hanging umbrella spinner

Accessibility Features: none

Facilities/Other:
  • Beaverton Mill Gateway Skatepark
  • beach volleyball court
  • washrooms (seasonal portables)

Surrounding Park Area: a nice field beside the playground along the small stream

Seating: 2 picnic tables, 4 park benches, more scattered throughout the park and in the adjacent Beaverton Mill Gateway Skatepark

Shade: some shade in the surrounding trees, no shade on the playground

Overall assessment: A small playground with the right amount of running space between play structures and swings. This definitely was the right place to stop on the way home from camping after having ice cream at the local Cows right across the street from the park. We absolutely love the old school climbing structures like the elephant that they have here as they give so much flexibility for kids to climb, hang, and just be creative in outdoor play.

Age Range: 2yrs and up

Parking:  large parking lot off  of Parkes Drive at Farrow Cres

Ground Cover: mulch

Main Equipment:
  • 4 metal slides
  • 2 swings
  • 2 infant swings
  • 2 accessible bucket swings
  • 1 rope climber
  • 1 hanging umbrella spinner (see video below)
  • 1 double teeter rocker
  • 1 single rocker

Accessibility Features: two bucket swings

Facilities/Other:
  • 1 soccer pitch

Surrounding Park Area: A small green space beside the park with connecting Ajax trails

Shade: some over the swings and umbrella spinner, and surrounding tree shade behind the playground

Overall assessment: It is so much fun finding a brand new playground with new equipment we have never seen before! The hanging umbrella spinner is so much fun for older kids who can reach themselves, or younger ones that just need a lift and initial spin (with a little help down too after getting dizzy).
