Picture
Area: East Pickering

Age Range: 2 to 8 years

Parking: large parking lot off of Liverpool Rd (turn into the Pine Ridge High School parking on Hasley Lane and on the right there is a laneway to the parking lot off of the Park field), very little street parking right beside the playground on Bridle Path Circle

Ground Cover: mulch

Main Equipment:
  • 2 slides
  • 1 climbing 'slide'
  • 1 swing
  • 1 infant swing
  • 1 car teeter rocker
  • rock climbing wall
  • climbing apparatus
  • activity station

Accessibility Features: lower curb to the mulch, activity station, car teeter rocker

Facilities/Other:
  • 1 softball field
  • 1 track and football field with artifical turf (which can be accessed through the locked gate by calling the city in advance)
  • 1 ball hockey rink/basket ball court (right beside the enclosed track)
  • 1 mini soccer pitch
  • 2 soccer pitches/ football field posts
  • 1 larger soccer pitch/ football field (at the bottom of the hill behind the enclosed track)
  • seasonal washrooms (portable potty)

Surrounding Park Area:
a great paved path through the park that connects to River Trail off of Valley Farm Rd, a lot of green space, and many sports fields

Seating: 2 park benches at the playground, multi-tiered spectator bleachers at the softball field and the enclosed track/football field

Shade:  some shade around the playground from the surrounding trees, no shade over the fields in the park, but the trees along the edges of the park and down further along River Trail offer some nice shady spots

Overall assessment: A great large park to explore and run around with a smaller climbing playground at the south corner. Definitely NOT a park to fly kites in though (safety first since this park is located directly under the power line belt). The paved trail offers a great place to learn to ride bikes down and up hills!

Picture
Area: Southwest Pickering

Age Range: 2 to 12 years

Parking: large parking lot off of Whites (note: there is also a parking lot off of Callahan Street but it is closer to the Dunmoore Park (North) playground)

Ground Cover: mulch

Main Equipment:
  • 5 slides
  • 2 swings
  • 1 four person teeter rocker
  • climbing apparatus

Accessibility Features: none

Facilities/Other:
  • 2 softball diamonds
  • soccer pitch
  • open field
  • tennis courts
  • seasonal washrooms (large building washroom besides the tennis courts)

Surrounding Park Area: green field adjacent to this park

Seating: 1park bench, picnic tables

Shade:  a lot of afternoon shade over the entire park from the huge trees from Petticoat Creek just behind

Overall assessment: These are the best racing slides we have seen yet! They are big, blue, curvy and there is even a bumpy one! The best part is that this park is in the shade almost the whole afternoon. Pack a picnic lunch because there picnic tables in the surrounding park space and right next to the tennis courts! Plus you can walk around the softball diamond to Dunmoore Park (North) for more playground fun.

Area: Southwest Pickering

Age Range: 2 to 12 years

Ground Cover: mulch

Main Equipment:
  • 6 slides
  • 1 swings
  • 1 infant swings
  • 1 rock climbing wall
  • 1 large climbing apparatus
  • 1 tunnel
  • activity stations

Accessibility Features: activity station

Facilities/Other:
  • 2 softball diamonds
  • soccer pitch
  • open field
  • tennis courts
  • seasonal washrooms (portable one beside this park, but large building washroom by tennis courts on the south side of the park)

Surrounding Park Area: small green field adjacent to this park, but larger green space at the south side of the park

Seating: 2 park benches

Shade:  no shade over the structure itself but some surrounding tree shade around the park (a lot more shade over the south side of the park)

Overall assessment: If you have climbers, this is a great park to take all ages to! There are large climbing structures, and also tot climbing apparatus built into the play structure. Grab a picnic lunch as you can walk between here and the south side of the park where the Dunmoore Park (South) playground can be found, and there are even washrooms located between the two.

Picture
Area: West Pickering

Age Range: 2 to 12 years

Parking:  large parking lot off of Rosebank Rd, some street parking off of Braeburn Cres

Ground Cover: mulch

Main Equipment:
  • 3 slides
  • 1 swings
  • 1 infant swings
  • 1 rock climbing wall
  • 1 climbing apparatus
  • 1 airplane rocker

Accessibility Features: none

Facilities/Other:
  • Splash Pad *NEW 2016*
  • softball diamond with night lighting
  • soccer pitch
  • large open field
  • seasonal washrooms

Surrounding Park Area: large green field for picnics in the park

Seating: 2 park benches

Shade:  no shade over the structure itself but some surrounding tree shade around the park and over both benches (late in the morning and early afternoon)

Overall assessment: A smaller park, but still with a lot to offer especially with the very large double sided rock climbing wall! And the brand new 2016 Splash Pad makes it a great destination park for a picnic out with family and friends. Even though it is a bit of a walk from the Rosebank Rd parking lot around the softball diamond to get to this park, it is likely easier since it offers more parking once the splash pad opens.

To the far right is the parking lot. Follow the path to the playground and splash pad behind the trees behind the ball diamond. It's a 5-10min walk with toddlers.
