Picture
Area: Pickering Central

Age Range: 2 - 5 years main playground; 5 and up for Miram play accessory

Parking:  plenty in the back lot of the Pickering Recreation Centre just off of Diefenbaker Court

Ground Cover: rubber

Main Equipment:
  • 2 slides
  • curvy monkey bars
  • Miram rider play accessory

Accessibility Features: ramp onto main structure, talking tubes

Facilities/Other:
  • Skatepark
  • basketball court
  • street hockey court
  • soccer fields
  • beach volleyball courts

Surrounding Park Area: a nice path through the park joins to Village Park East playground with plenty of soccer fields and some fields filled with trees

Seating: 2 park benches and a curved cement seating wall surround the playground

Shade: no shade on the playground, some shade provided in the surrounding trees

Overall assessment: There are no swings at this park, so don't get your swinging fanatics hopes up.  The main play structure is great for the little kids, while the Miram rider accessory nearby offers excellent entertainment for kids ages 5 and up (mom and dad included as the kids will have a laugh at our attempts on this unique play structure too!).  The ball hockey (street hockey) court is great for kids who don't have a cul-de-sac or safe street to play on, and the beach volleyball courts offer some quieter court time compared to the Pickering Beachfront ones (they are located south of the playground behind the Skatepark).  The surrounding park with plenty of trees offers the perfect place for a game of hide and seek or a scavenger hunt!
